Kumaridha Local AECG held our Connecting to Country Program for our collegiate of schools from Wednesday 27 June to Friday 29 June 2018.

We had twenty-six participants from our school community learning about true Aboriginal culture. Highlights this time were Uncle Nolan’s Cleansing Ceremony for the start of our three days, site tours, Uncle John Lester, who is a respected Uncle in the Awabakal community, and also the time spent at Miroma Language Centre in Newcastle.

All the participants thoroughly enjoyed their time, and although many found some of the days rather confronting, were pleased to learn from an Aboriginal perspective.
