Bush Tucker with Rodney Lake and OzTukka

Exploring Bush Tucker with Uncle Rodney Lake & Oz Tukka

On Monday 23 October, our Aboriginal students had the privilege of welcoming Uncle Rodney Lake from Yumoolong, alongside Oz Tukka, for another incredible cultural experience.

Gathering in the yarning circle, students listened intently as they learned about the importance of bush tucker—its origins, uses, and unique flavors. They had the opportunity to smell, taste, and experience a variety of bush foods. Some found the flavors absolutely delicious, while others weren’t so sure—but it was an exciting experience for all!

Passing the ingredients around the circle, students gained a deeper appreciation for the diversity and richness of native foods, discovering how each one carries its own distinct taste and aroma.

A big thank you to Uncle Rodney and Oz Tukka for sharing their knowledge and making this hands-on experience so engaging and memorable! 🌿✨
